Giving is the best medicine.

Every day, our staff deal with some of the most consequential health and social issues facing rural, remote and Indigenous communities in Australia.

The issues we deal with have long-term impacts on the lives of rural, remote and Indigenous people and the future of whole communities.

More than any other thing our health status is determined by the places we are born, grow, live, work and age.  That is why we are committed to a place-based approach to community health.

Our doctors and health staff live and work in rural and remote communities building knowledge of the local context and the relationships with local residents that are essential for good primary care and better health outcomes.

Rural and Remote Medical Service Ltd (RARMS) is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission and is able to accept donations from individuals, businesses and foundations.

Our current fundraising priority is to build our Remote Medical Service Sustainability Fund. This fund is used to cover the cost of recruiting doctors for short-term coverage, and paying travel and accommodation expenses, to cover gaps in health and medical services provision in our communities.

Your support helps RARMS to reduce the risk that our permanent GP's burn-out or leave rural and remote practice.

As a registered charity, RARMS Board oversight all donations and reports annually to the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission on funds raised and expenditure, so you can be confident that your support goes directly to the communities that need health and medical care.

If you have a particular interest in supporting another aspect of rural, remote and Indigenous health, we invite you to express your preference for any of our other initiatives or to propose a new initiative for our consideration.

We would really love you to commit to a regular monthly donation.  Donors who donate monthly for six months or more will be acknowledged at our AGM, at other special events, and on this website (of course you can opt out if you would rather remain anonymous).

If you would like to contact us directly about making a large donation or bequest to help to ensure health equality for rural, remote and Indigenous Australians, or if you are representing a foundation or other institutional donor, please call our CEO Mark Burdack on (02) 4062 8900. If you have specific projects you wish to develop or deliver with RARMS, we are very happy to discuss having you as one of our partners.
